Bryce as a reader and writer
Bryce learned to read in the most direct form; from the Michigan school system. He did not read a lot as a kid but was given the basic skills needed to read the material in class. Teachers would read chapters in the books and have him and his class read it back. There are many reasons behind why we are read to and learn how to read ourselves. Reading is a very important tool in any society, it helps us communicate with one another, can be used to pass on information, and even to help remember our own thoughts we have at times. Not to mention the ability to share ideas with people through books and texts from across the world. We would not be where we are today without reading. In order to become a good reader all you really have to do is read. Reading vast and varying books is the best way to become better. Reading has never come easy to Bryce. With dyslexia Bryce has always had a struggle with books and heavy literature. The only thing that makes it easier is reading books is reading for deep interest and larger font sizes. The hardest part of reading for Bryce is large complex words and sentences. Old school literature can be the toughest for him. When it comes to picking books to read, Bryce can be very picky. However, some of the qualities he looks for is modern writing, originality, he enjoys science fiction, and well developed relatable characters. When it comes to reading at home, Bryce does not do much of it. He will read a good book perhaps once or twice a month. Generally speaking, Bryce thinks that reading is very important. But should be taught in schools with the idea of reading what interests you. Not trying to comprehend text from 100 yeas ago. Officially speaking, Bryce is not a writer. He does not have books published or in progress. Bryce believes others can learn to write quite easily. They can be taught in a class room or just try and write on their own. All you need is knowledge of how grammar works and a pen. People write to tell story's, pass on information, inspire others, state their thoughts, ideas, and opinions, and even to record our own thoughts. For a person to write well they need to understand how grammar works, how to read and write, how to connect with the reader, and to just be original and creative. Bryce enjoys writing fiction. He likes to think up crazy and exotic worlds and character. In order to decide what to write, Bryce well wait until he has an original story idea or character. Then he will just build on that idea until he thinks he has enough to put pen to paper. There is no exact location where Bryce's ideas come from. The best explanation would be the world around him. According to Bryce, the most helpful responses are the ones that tell you what you have done correct and yet, what you can still improve on. Bryce really only ever writes at home when it is for work or school. Though dyslexic, Bryce feels that he is an adequate writer. He can get his point across to the reader with ease, and has a decent vocabulary to help him. However, his penmanship can be sloppy, and his grammar bad. |
